PlainsCapital definitely works with AMEX - although they limited mine to $1000 for the free checking account. Maybe it's more for other types of account? Also haven't tested if you can open and fund multiple accounts...

Although it's a TX bank, it seems to work if you live in NY.

I was able to open a savings account and fund it was $5000 with my Hilton AMEX!! Thanks - On my way to being Gold Status with Hilton. =) I live in Las Vegas and all I had to do was fax a signature card and a copy of my Driver's License. I signed up on Wednesday and the account was funded by FRIDAY.

Opened savings and checking account. Funded checking 1,000 and savings at 4000. Max you can fund is 5,000. I live in UT. so probably you can apply savings by 5000 and 1000 checking?
